Greg/ mary sunny with strong winds
“Oh my gosh. What is that thing. It’s Huge” Mary exclaimed.
“I don’t know but it sure is big. Watch out here comes another one.” Greg said
“”Wow that just about landed on my head “said Mary as she is ducking her head.
“ We are being invaded. What the heck are they. They are the size of a bat.”
This was how our day ended. We left Georgetown later than expected. The marina does not open until 9:00. Island time you know. We backtrack out of the harbor the same way we came in. The way the wind is blowing we should get a better point of sail if we can start a couple mile northwest. That was the wrong thinking when 3 hours later we finally reached the track we wanted. The winds were strong but we needed to motor sail in order to get to where we want to go. 6 hours later and only 23 miles from where we started, the anchor dropped into some of the clearest water I have ever seen.
Greg grilled some burgers, Mary poured the wine and we sat down to a very relaxed diner. At least that is what we thought until the attack of the Giant Moths.
After we got over our fear of what they were, we realized that they were very beautiful big moths. Three of them graced our presence sitting on the under side of the bimini next to the lights. Once perched instead of flying they were amazing. We estimated them to be about 6 inches across with many shades of dark brown. One had a very lovely white wavey line in the wing design. Pretty cool. I will have to look them up once we get internet.
