I'm Back

08 November 2015 | Marina Del Rey, Puerto Rico
Greg/Sunny, windy, 100% chance of rain for today
Hello Friends,
I arrived one week ago, Nov. 1st and now I am sitting on Mile High Dream drinking my morning tea. It has been a very different summer for me as you can imagine. I was very active physically and spent a lot of time processing what I want to do with my life now that it has drastically changed. I did not come up with any answers, but here I am on the boat trying it out.
The weather has been warm, my to do list very long, and I did not have enough clean t- shirts since I was going through about 3 per day with the constant sweating. And I am the one who says he no longer likes the cold weather.
A new bottom coat was applied to the boat, a small outboard motor purchased, and my two page to do list were all part of last weeks work schedule. I was splashed into the Water on Friday. (There really was no splash, it was just a gentle lowering of Mile High Dream in the water, but they called it being splashed.) Now I get to be serious and try to keep the boat from looking like a bachelor pad. Place for everything and everything in it's place. This is not one of my strengths. I may make a place but getting it back to the place takes some real discipline for me.
The boat is rocking with strong winds and it will definitely rain today. A major lo passed just north of us and we are now feeling the after effects. This will be a good day to organize the boat.
My current plans are to leave here Monday the 16th. I have a gentleman from Wisconsin coming down to sail with me to St. Martin. He will arrive on Sat to help me get a few more things done and then off we go in the wild blue ocean. We hope not too wild.

About: Greg has been sailing since he was 21. I grew up in North Dakota and started taking advantage of the constant winds. After selling my bicycle store in 2006 we got more serious about living our dream on a sailboat. Greg and his wife purchased Mile High Dream in 2013.
Extra:
Greg and Mary had owned Nada Mas, a 23' South Coast, on Lake Dillon in Colorado for 33 years. We chartered in the Caribbean and Calif. numerous times. We were excited to begin our dream. While waiting for a weather window in the Truks and Caicos, Mary died unexpectedly Jan. 6 2015 after a [...]
