Midriff Islands

02 November 2013 | Santa Rosalia
Breezy
Made Santa Rosalia after a fabulous time exploring the Midriff Islands and Bahia de Los Angeles. Dropped anchor on 8 different islands and never saw a another soul. Photo is our favorite called Este Ton. Did a 77 miles, 14 hour sleigh ride down from San Fransicquito to San Rosalia - Mary getting so good that I was able to nap in 20-25 knot winds. Harbor has be enclosed for several days due to the high winds but we will leave this AM and work our way to Bahia Conception to meet up with some friends and enjoy area around Mulege.

Having a blast here and hope All's well for anyone reading this.

Love to all!

Still Here

16 October 2013 | San Carlos
Warm and Breezy
Enjoying San Carlos while we sort out some battery issues and wait for two tropical storms to fissile. Plan is to head North on Friday or Saturday as soon as the wind and sea lie down. Not sure how far we will get with the late start but we are more than ready to be in the adventure mode once again. Have met some fine folks and been snorkeling most days. The storm activity has all. Even well South of us but has made for some great sunsets.

Love to all!

Back in Baja

Kirk/windy and warm
Drive down was lovely. So green and lush. Lots of agriculture including vineyards have been put in. Boarder crossing no problem, roads have been (and are being) upgraded - loved the three day drive. Ferry from Santa Rosalia down for repairs and flight from Loreto didn't leave until Sunday, so we checked into a beach front hotel and have been playing tourist for three days. Spotted the Tequila Mockingbird anchored in el Burro Cove and caught up with Ed and Cindy and got to meet our weather Guru, Gary - great welcome back!

Love to all!

Perfect
Wind has died down and we are to have lovely weather for our last few days of our adventure.

We have bus tickets on the all night run from Guaymas to LA on Tuesday. Will spend Wednesday at the embassy securing our visas for reunion with the girls at Katie and Fabian's place in Beijing.

Made a special connection with "Cap" while in Santa Rosilia and now he is making sure our time in San Carlos is memorable - thanks for everything Cap!

Santa Rosalia

Warm and windy
We were enjoying San Rosalia with some cruising friends attending the Easter festivities when it became obvious that our weather window for crossing to the mainland was about to close. We blasted out two days earlier than planned and were treated to an all night sail in 15 knots of breeze of the port beam.

Wind has been howling ever since we got here so seems we made the right call.

Kamala is in her summer slip at Marina San Carlos. It appears to be a great place and we are meeting lots of cool people who love it here.

Cruising with Will & Debbie Power

22 March 2013 | Mulege
Warm & lovely
It was a real treat to have Will & Debbie Power cruise with us for a week. We are so happy to share the beautiful Sea of Cortez with friends & family. The winds calmed down and the air & water were warm & clear. Will & Kirk are sailing buddies from way back & Debbie & I have been retired teachers & fellow gym rats for years. We all enjoyed the islands near Loreto, Danzante and Isla Carmen. We all enjoyed collecting shells & sea glass , walking the sandy beaches Playing with the stand up paddle board and snorkeling the clear waters. We have just arrived in Bahia Concepcion and have met up with fellow cruising friends. We got a ride to the charming town of Mulege. Where we are enjoying the Internet and a great bakery and latte. Happy Easter all, hope you are enjoying the beginning of a lovely spring!,
