The fast passage that wasn't.....

Our straight through passage to Turtle Bay didn't happen! After Cabo Falso, we've gotten into a routine of "brisk" wind and sea conditions for most of the day. Around 1100 each day conditions soften and become very nice until 1500 when both wind and waves increase and stay robust throughout the night. When we departed Puerto Los Cabos the forecast was for delightful conditions to Turtle Bay - that didn't happen and, in fact, not long after our Cabo Falso adventure updated weather predictions became more like our actual conditions. As we began day 3 the forecast called for 26kt winds from Abreojos to points north. When the wind speed touched 30 and a couple of 10' rollers went under the keel we diverted to Bahia San Hipolito. We covered the 38 miles into this very peaceful anchorage in a little over 5 hours. This morning, after getting a weather update, we bounced up the coast 20 miles to Bahia Asuncion where it's very windy (23 in the anchorage) but there's no fetch (wave action). Here we launched the dinghy to visit the local Farmacias to search out some gotas para los ojos (eye drops) for our "not really a dog" Walter - sure enough, at our second stop we found the medication which was priced at 15% of the US cost (assuming it's really Prednisolona and not Zippo Lighter fluid, Walter it set for life with eye drops....). On to Turtle Bay tomorrow in the very early AM where we'll likely be "holding" until Friday when the weather is predicted to be more favorable for us to get to Ensenada.
