ah, the Weatherman....(again)

KT and I, along with Barritt and Renee, hit the links at Loreto Bay once again for a round of pasture pool! This course is both challenging and beautiful but the main topic of conversation was the weather forecast. Once again there was conflict between the sources with the range of these ouija board-like declarations spanning the entire spectrum. The most concerning were 3 sources, including the one shown above, predicting wind gusts into the low 40's with rain. Others had conditions fairly benign. So we went about preparing for the blow - since the wind was predicted to come from the west (off the land) and we are anchored close to shore, we decided to stay put. So the time came for the big blow from the west - actual conditions were calm with a slight east influence. Then about 2000 the west wind picked up to a steady 15 with one gust to 21. It was actually one of our nicer nights here - light rain did come for an hour or 2 which washed down the decks. Presently it's hot hot hot with a few clouds and a light breeze keeping us into the swell. I've ranted before about the "usefulness" of these predictions but to forecast winds over 40 and have actually conditions nowhere close is pretty bad IMHO. Don't get me wrong, NOT having Force 9 winds is way ok with us but when actual and predicted conditions are so misaligned one's general confidence in these EXPENSIVE to obtain data is rattled to say the least!
