All Aboard!

05 April 2014 | Staniel Cay, Exuma Bahamas
Our first official onboard guests in the islands on new Dream Chaser are Pete and Karen from Plymouth, MN. They arrived via Water Makers Air to Staniel Cay on a small 6 seater plane from Ft. Lauderdale. Shane picked them up in the dinghy at 9:00 am and once they were unpacked and settled in we were off and running, so to speak.

Before lunch, we swam off the back of the boat to nearby Thunderball Grotto, or better yet known as Thunderball Cave. The cave was showcased to the world as the location of many of the scenes in two James Bond movies, Thunderball and Never Say Never Again. The Thunderball Cave has a maze of different entrances and many underwater pathways. While either diving or snorkeling, you can swim into this hollowed-out rock and find yourself in a magical fishbowl of sorts with hundreds of colorful fish of all different sizes. The ceiling, which is as high as 20 feet in some spots, is dotted with natural skylights where rain has eroded the rock, allowing the sunlight or moonlight to to shine down into the cave. There is also beautiful coral in and around the outside of the cave.

After a leisurely lunch we took a short 2 mile motor trip down to Great Guana Cay and anchored off of Black Point Settlement. That evening we took a slow stroll through the tiny 300 person town out to Regatta Point. Since it was Saturday night, the towns people were having a Jump Up (a party) in the center of town and were playing extremely loud music, dancing and bbq-ing fish, chicken and ribs. We had made a reservation at Lorraine's Café earlier in the day so we all feasted on fresh grilled grouper, peas and rice, French fries and had either the local Bahaman beer "Kalik" or mixed our own cold drinks from the "honor" bar.

Ok, so here's the part you've all been waiting for. The reason why we are doing this! Both of us had been pursuing our careers for over 20 years and we do not have any children. Since we have not had to pay or save for those enormous expenses that sometimes children can bring, we have been [...]
