The Green Flash

28 December 2014 | Anegaga, BVI
If you have ever been to the Caribbean you may have heard of, and desperately wanted to see a "Green Flash". We have seen a few over the years but to actually capture it on camera was just plain lucky!

What is a "Green Flash"? A "Green Flash" is an optical phenomena that sometimes occurs right after sunset, or it can occur right before sunrise, but we have only witnessed them at sunset. When the conditions are exactly right, a green spot is visible above the upper rim of the disk of the sun. The green appearance usually only lasts for no more than a second or two, hence the Green Flash! Usually folks are out on the decks of their boats with a cocktail in hand and ready to catch a glimpse. In a split second it is gone and you can hear people blowing on conch horns to celebrate the magic!
