And all though the yard there were only a few halyards slapping and the whine of the mozzies clustered by the bug net covering our companionway hatch.
Tonight we are sitting in the travel lift slings, waiting to be delivered into the drink first thing tomorrow.
It’s like the night before Christmas when you are a kid. It will be a little bit hard to sleep because we are so excited to float again! For three weeks we have been so good, sanding and painting our little hearts out and doing other little projects to get Picara ready for her next cruising season. She has never looked so pretty!
Boatyard life hasn’t been all hard work though. We have made lots of friends over the last few weeks too, many of them experienced cruisers with great stories, inspiration and advice to share. Kind people have given us rides around town and shared delicious meals.
We also feel at home here because this boatyard also has its share of epic steel boat projects. Obviously, a good portion of each day is given over to hard-core chin-wagging.
It’s almost feeling like we are growing roots under the keel… which means it is definitely time to move along, even if just across the bay.
