A couple of days later, we took a mooring at the Bora Bora Yacht Club and hiked up the very steep trail to Mt. Pahia. A rope was helpful to get over the near-vertical rocky bits at the top of the trail. The last few hundred metres between two peaks were along a knife-edge ridge, but as the trail was basically a tunnel through thick brush it didn’t feel too scary or exposed. The view was worth the scramble.
Now we are getting ready for the next leg of our jouney – definitely west, it remains to be seen which islands the wind blows us to on our way to Tonga… as before, we’ll be checking in with the Pacific Seafarer’s Net so the folks at home can follow us on YOTREPS… call sign VA7MCF.
