Sailing with the Princess
02/21/2011, Galveston

We are very busy completing our final list of "to do's" and ready to start the next phase of life's journey. The Princess is busy making a dress for our son's March wedding and sewing lee clothes for our salon berth. I have been stowing reserve fuel, our life raft and spare parts while Cathy has been redoing our live aboard wardrobe. Off the boat went my suits and ties for work and the majority of our dress and winter clothes. Our new boating wardrobe is tropical casual. The new sat phone is tested and the sat radio is working great. Our dock mates gave us a "Sail Away" party and the manuevering has begun to see who gets what slip after we leave this Friday. We had the wine in the cockpit at sunset slip.

Our crew is getting ready for out trip to Marathon in the Keys. We are leaving this Friday (2/25). Cathy will be driving with Sassy from Galveston to Marathon with visits along the way. We will return in late March for the wedding and a couple of weeks work while our son, Brian & new daughter-in-law. Elisa are enjoying their honeymoon. Retirement is then effective April 8th and then back to Marathon.

Then it's time to dance with my darling for the rest of our lives

15 weeks but who's counting

We have been whittling down our to list as our departure date is getting closer and time is moving faster. SCUBA certification is done, SPOT is activated, storage compartments modified, storm sail being made, bimini supports bolted, chartplotter repaired, new aft air cond, oil and filters changed, anti freeze changed, heat exchanger flushed, trans serviced and careers are winding down. Working on sat radio, high water alarm, anchor storage and ................
As we move closer and whittle down our list we will update our blog as that is one way to keep the excitement of departure in focus.

From there to the Chesapeake for the summer with probale docking at Spring Cove Marina in Solomons, MD. Then in the fall of next year we will be off to the Bahamas. We have east coast venues, the Bahamas, the Caribbean and poetntially the Northern Med in the years to come.
