So much for not getting off the boat for a few days. When Bill found out that you could tie your dinghy up to the dock in front of a West Marine store we had to stop. Turns out the dock in front of the store was not very dinghy friendly, but the marina next to the store did have a place to leave our dinghy.

We had a relatively easy day. It wasn’t warm but it wasn’t windy either so even though we were wearing hats and gloves we weren’t completely freezing. We had four bridges that needed to open for us today! The first one was right next to last night‘s anchorage. Even though we had the right to go through the bridge first we let the shrimp boat that was travelling north, and had been waiting for almost an hour, go through first. We were followed through the bridge going south by a Canadian boat. We don’t like it when another boat is on our tail so we slowed down and let them go by. When they got to the next bridge the bridge tender wouldn’t open until we got there too. At some point in the day they got way ahead of us. We caught up with another Canadian boat by the time we had to go through the last two bridges coming into Daytona Beach. Bill recognized the name of the boat – we had met the people back in Annapolis at a couple of the marine stores we were always in. We never did talk to them though.

Somewhere along the line we lost the social part of this journey. The last time we “hung out” with any boaters was our second night in Georgia. We are sure it will pick up again somewhere in Florida. It must be all those towns we are stopping in. For now we are just hanging out with the birds. The picture above is of some friends of ours we passed along the way today.
