Steve is now independently ambulatory for short distances and getting better every day. He also got the all clear on the latest pathology results so we are in the lets get ready to roll mode. He just needs a final visit to doctors on Friday, return the hire wheelchair (although I did suggest he keep it for a few weeks to push me around as way of a thank you for services rendered) not holding my breath though.
Our friends Ruth and Phil from Maclay Island should be wending there way towards us as I type. To join us for a few weeks traveling up to the Whitsundays. Then Deb and Brian jump on as crew for the Lagoon event. Four weeks to the day from today in the Whitsundays currently expecting 20 crews consisting of aprox 60 people. We are holding a cocktail party the night before it starts if 60 turn up on the night "it might get interesting". It will be interesting to set sail in a fleet that large heading up to Gloucester Passage. My bet is on it turning into a "race of the over weights".
Yesterday I had offered Steve some 300lb braided fishing line or as I prefer to thinking of it catching line, because if any thing takes the bait it is not getting off by braking the line and if it is big enough to brake the line chances are I do not want to deal with it at the back of the boat anyway.
Any way after 2 hours and emptying most compartments on the boat we finally found it back in the area of the boat where it was first thought to be. In the local shop they wanted $60 for 150 meters where as this stuff cost $88 delivered via e-bay from Hong Kong for 1 kilometer of line.
During the search we identified a number of items that had not been used for well over a year, so we have a pile of surplus equipment to offload into the car when Phil arrives for storage. The stuff I accumulate, spare 46 inch TV, 2 x 400 mm deck hatches, spare cats cage, foot stool, polisher, antique dumpy level, you get the idea good useful things that are just weighing this already heavy girl down more that she deserves.
Today will be spent getting boat ready to head back out to sea, tomorrow is set aside to replenish our food and refreshment stores, ready for an 0630 departure Saturday morning. Just got to remember to use our $50 meat voucher that we won.
Sorry no pictures taken in yesterdays mess so I will share a Far Side Cartoon that I noticed on Face Book that made me laugh this morning..
