The Low Isles provided us with another contender for the top 3 most uncomfortable nights. Was not thrown out of bed, but came mighty close. So upped anchor and headed for Port Douglas. We stopped at the fuel wharf to top up our tanks before we head up to Lizard Island.
Clear Horizons mean-time headed up Dickson's inlet looking for a place to Anchor. Steve radioed he was just under 2 miles up and had dropped anchor, it was tight but should be ok.
The chart plotter had him ahead of us, but seemingly anchored out in dry land. Not long had us anchored in front of him.
The river here is quite shallow and not very wide so we waited for the turn of the tide when the boat would do a 180 degree swing and face the other way. All was good had 2 to 3 meters between our stern and the Mangrove banks as we swung past.
Steve wanted to go for a look up the river for wildlife, so I hopped into the tender with him.
Headed up the river, but was not sure we should have such tempting looking morsels on the bow, if any biting handbags were around.
The view of the two cats in the river.
We have had "The Lady Douglas " a paddle boat doing tourist cruises up and down the river go past at least 4 times yesterday.
The two nice big cruising cats anchored are pointed out as visitors from down South, passing through headed North, which prompts a flurry of photo taking by the punters on board. Stars and we did not even know.
Will head down-stream and visit Port Douglas for lunch and top up on fresh veg, as tomorrow we plan to head North and all being well get to Lizard by Friday. If all is not well we will end up somewhere else. There's always a plan B, C or D.
