What she used to look like.
THE once-majestic tall ship Whitsunday Magic has come to an unsightly end off Cannonvale Beach.
The boat ran aground on January 24 2013 when the Whitsunday region was hit by wild winds.
Bob Johnson, who was acting as caretaker on behalf of the vessel's Gold Coast-based owner, said for the first couple of weeks after the storm, Whitsunday Magic had managed to stay afloat.
"We did prepare to get it off but the red tape basically took too long and she lay on her side and filled with water," he said. There it has laid rusting away till this week.
Fast forward four years.
We motored South into a 15 to 20 knot SE wind making 7- 8 knots when the Incoming tide was with us slowing down to 5 - 6 knots after the tide turned.
Around lunch time off Goldsmith Island, so we called it a day and dropped the anchor in a very quiet not rolling every where bay.
