Departed Gladstone for Pancake Creek, ( putting on best Gomer Pyle voice) Surprise, surprise, surprise 25 knots on the nose, again. The big bash South just keeps on keeping on.
After departure from Gladstone marina Kathy noticed water under spare anchor, rode, warps etc stored there prior to putting fenders away.
Fast forward 7 hours we are anchored in Pancake Creek and have emptied the locker and sponged out all the water. Then noticed sea water coming out of small hole in corner of locker at floor level every time boat moved.
Vacuum oil extractor has managed to extract 24 liters from this 35mm x 6mm hole, obviously a void area underneath of unknown volume but at the very minimum 24lt.
It is at floor level, forward of the front windows. Appears to be along side the lower left hand rear corner of the washing machine. Still on passage back to marina berth for Xmas in Brisbane. So will not start tearing the boat apart yet.
So need to ascertain where water is getting in and where is it going to. No obvious leak evident inside locker nor any leak in salt water wash down system plumbing that is also housed in this locker.
It maybe just a very slow accumulation that has eventually filled up this void then started backing up in the locker. Do not know if the hole is meant as a drain or just a manufacturing defect when built.
There is always something to do or worry about on the boat.
