We are now anchored in the middle of what cruisers call the "swimming pool". It is easy to see why it is called the swimming pool, as that is what the water looks like. Over half a mile away the entire bay is surrounded by large reefs that blocks the swell form entering. The water even in big blows is nice and calm, that is how we like it. Furthermore there is a small deepwater opening on the East side, directly towards open sea, and here it allows you to snorkel and spear for bigger game. The snorkeling is most days not good for Heloisa and Auke as the swell always threaten to throw you on the reefs, for less swell you need to reefs on the South side. But here is the big game fish, the bigger yellow jack and yellow snappers. But I have since learned they are not easy to shoot. They are much smarter as they younger smaller brother and stay away from you. They do their business without being disturbed by you, but when you close in to shooting range, they always move on . I need to try different tactics now, I have read about how you need to hide behind the reefs and wait for them to come by and get within shooting range. Anyway it keeps me busy, there are enough decent size black snappers on the reef to shoot easily, so that was our meal yesterday. Still I prefer the big jacks, better meat and you "feel" more of a hunter. The black snappers are relative easy to shoot. As long as you move quietly, they get comfortable and look you at you right in front of your spear, as if to say, go ahead I know it is my time, spear me and eat me, which is just what I will do then. In the afternoon yesterday Auke and myself went to explore a nearby shallow water reef, which was nice and we found a large lobster hiding under the reef. We left him as we had already the fish on board and plan to come back this afternoon for the lobster. I think they stay in the same spot most of the time so I expect to be able to find him again today. And where there is one there should be more I reason, so we will go out the three of us this afternoon for lobster hunt on this shallow reef. So all good, and we will likely spend many days here. All well with boat and crew.
