Little Ditty from Les Saintes

kurt flock, sunny, warm, breezy, typical
Well, it's been several weeks since I've updated our sailing blog. This is because Kate and I returned to Indiana so we could spend time with our families. During this hiatus, my father, James Kahler Flock, passed away. He was 80 years old five years ago when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. With the unyielding assistance of my mother and some pretty good doctoring, he outlived everyone's expectations, but it was finally time to say goodbye, and fortunately, I was able to share time with him during the last week of his glorious life on this planet. I'll write more about my dad in a future update as he had such a great influence on my life, including instilling me with a spirit of adventure that drives our current cruising endeavors.
For the moment, I wanted to post this short update, so those who are following us know we are back safely aboard Myananda. We left St. Maarten several days ago with six new cruising friends and are traveling together on four separate boats to Dominica. That's as far south as Kate and I will get this season, as we have friends and family visiting us later this month and early April at St. Maarten. Our "3-5 month sabbatical" got extended a bit, and we are trying to figure out what we are going to do with the boat during hurricane season (that starts officially around June 1st). At any rate, I've taken a few photos since resuming our cruise, including some really neat shots of whales we encountered during our sale from St. Maarten to Antigua. So stay tuned. There's more to come!
