Pit Stop
Markus08-May-2008, Grand Turk Island, Turks & Caicos
Arrived off Grand Turk Island this morning... the wind did pick up in the end so we got to at least enjoy a few hours of nice sailing. We will likely stay here for two nights before moving on towards North Carolina (wind and weather will dictate whether direct or via the Bahamas). All is well aboard, stay tuned...
Under way again
Markus06-May-2008, En route to Turks & Caicos
Left Puerto Rico yesterday afternoon and enjoyed a good afternoon and night of sailing on a beam/broad reach between 6 and 7 kn. Now the wind has died and we are motoring. Bill joined us on Saturday in Puerto Rico and before leaving the marina on Sunday we enjoyed a very nice evening trip to a Lagoon with lots of bio-luminescence. Quite an awesome sight to swim in there. Now we're hoping for the wind to pick again. Current position is 19-57.7N 067-43.7W, all is well aboard - stay tuned...
Eastern Caribbean Wrap-up
Nana & Markus02-May-2008, Puerto del Rey, Puerto Rico
As the end of our stay in Puerto Rico approaches, it's time to wrap up our Eastern Caribbean circuit... we had a wonderful four months of cruising up and down the islands and were lucky enough to also to share this with friends. On the sail from Anguilla to Culebra we brainstormed our personal little "best of" list for the Eastern Caribbean which can be found here. We also added a new album to the photo gallery, covering the stretch from Antigua to Puerto Rico. It is sad to leave these lovely, friendly islands behind and face the long haul north now, but as a friend advised, we are trying to avoid "protracted Sunday night blues". After all, we still have 3 months of our sabbaticals left and more islands and ports to explore ahead.
