Manuel Antonia Park (one of the biggest in Costa Rica)

We picked this anchorage as it has one of the biggest parks in Costa Rica, we anchored near the beach and dinghied ashore. We were not sure where the entrance to the park was but started to wonder and follow some signs that we saw. As we were walking down the pathway we saw the white faced, capaccino monkeys, lots of them. It was like they were putting on a performance for the onlookers and likely were as they obviously are used to people. We got a little further and were able to hire a guide to show us the park, $20 per person, pretty reasonable we thought so off we went. We saw Howler Monkeys, Sloths, a Laughing falcon, walking stick grasshopper, red crabs, 2 types of frogs, a few more bugs, how the guide is able to see some of them as they are so small is beyond us. He has worked in the park for 15 years and knows where to find them. At the end of our tour we saw about 4 or 5 Howler monkeys moving their way through the trees, what a sight, fantastic! The surf was a little higher when we got back to the beach but we managed to get the dinghy out without us getting wet ....thank goodness.
