Santorini the island of mama mia….unfortunately Dean and Leslie had to babysit Necessity while we ferried off to Santorini….departing on the ferry 5:30 in the morning we arrived at 8:30 at the ferry dock, negotiated a room and a car for our stay and arrived at our hotel by 9…after surveying the centre of town of Fira we hopped into the car headed out for Oia at the north end of the island where we had wonderful lunch at a scenic taverna overlooking the coldera , then back down the winding roads to our hotel where we wandered uptown for a delicious dinner at a garden restaurant…next day we toured the southern part of the island..including ancient Thera…a port on the south end and a monastery…back for dinner at the El Greco…wood fired pizza..yum….next day was warm and sunny so we ventured down the 587 steps to the bottom of the coldera where a cruise ship had arrived with lots of people…we almost got run over by a donkey stampede…taking people up and down the steps….we ventured onto the pier where they filmed mama mia and stood where Meryl Streep was …..took the cable car back up the steep slope checked out of the hotel and headed back to the ferry and arrived back in Milos about 10:30….had a fabulous time…
