Tilos

03 December 2011 | Tilos, Greece
Dean
Three weeks ago a ship with 120 illegal refugees was ran aground on the east coast of Tilos just north of the little harbour we are moored in. The passengers scrambled ashore to claim refugee status while the captain and first mate hid in the hills above the town. A few days later a very leaky ketch arrived at Tilos to spirit away the two hideouts. The vessel was leaking so badly and when a storm came up it eventually sank. All suspects were apprehended, outcome unknown.

Tilos is one of the islands we all agreed we would like to return to. Such a nice beach with many small restaurants, cafes and shops. Very friendly people and nice harbour, albeit small but with services.
