Necessity was comfortably berthed at the Split Sailing Club when Crew & I arrived on Oct. 21st. Tom and Carol joined us two days later and after a two day weather delay we began our exit strategy south from Croatia. A long two night passage off the coast of Albania landed us at our first Greek Island of Corfu.
Multiple stops in the Ionian Sea (Paxos, Lefkas, Patras, Itea) took us close to Athens for a scheduled crew change.
After touring Athens with our new crew Chris and Lorraine we transited the Corinth Canal to enter the Aegean Sea. After stops on the islands of Aegina, Milos, Ios, Astipalia, Tilos, Necessity finally reached Rhodes on schedule. A short hop over to Turkey landed us at Marmaris for haul out.
So after four months of touring comprising three months on board Necessity (1,850 nm: Tunisia-Malta-Italy-Croatia-Greece-Turkey), four weeks on the ‘Life Raft Trip’ (U.K., France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia) Crew and I are quite ready to return home to family and friends….and winter! Sledding, snowshoeing, snowboarding and skiing is definitely in our future – bring on the white stuff!
