Home Again
So much room! Lots of hot water and even a bathtub! I have been all through the house and have not hit my head even once on a bulkhead or beam. I even let the tap run while I brushed my teeth. And so quiet. Not a halyard clanged, no wind in the rigging and I did not have to listen for a pump going on & off. Even my laptop seems huge compared to the little notebook we have been using.
Living on a boat has its moments. The dawns at sea, sunsets, and beautiful scenery while sailing along the coasts or through islands. And for me – the history. Always so close to the shore. Dock the boat and walk into the Roman ruins, the Greek theaters, or the Maltese fortifications. However there are those periods of high wind, billowing seas, or close encounters with freighters that always create excess stomach acid (at least for me). Brian’s definition of sailing is often true: ‘Fixing or repairing one’s boat in exotic locations’. Necessity completed about 2,000 sea miles in total. She performed exceedingly well. Many issues required solving at the beginning of the adventure, but after that basically ‘clear sailing’.
After being away from family and friends for four months fourteen days homesickness will eventually set in. The ‘Home Sweet Home’ quote is certainly ringing true today.
