Skopea Bay Sailing and Anchorage

Great sail today across the 12 mile Skopea bay to an overnight anchorage at Yassica Adalari just south of the town of Gocek. Full main and genoa in 10-12 knots of wind propelled us along at 6 knots with a good heel on. Clear blue skies surrounded by high mountain ranges produced a very unique sailing experience reminiscent of the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro.
Our destination was a quiet anchorage off Yassica Adalari in the Twelve Island group. Very quiet. A Turkish Gulet out for the day slipped her mooring in the late afternoon and we were left alone. No sounds what-so-ever. No waves, no wind, no cars, no boats and almost no wildlife. Went for a swim but at 20 degrees C it was a short one!
Dinner onboard was followed by a stunning star show. The thin crescent moon sunk early to reveal a panoramic view of the star studded night sky. We are far enough south that Orion remains visible for most of the night (36 42.4’N, 28 54.7’E).
My insurance coverage stops at 35 degrees east, so just off the east coast of Cyprus. We have a ways to go yet, about 300 nautical miles.
We have a crew change coming up. Sadly the Admiral departs. It takes two crew to replace him however!
