Forbidden Post from the Forbidden City

Landed in Beijing, China - a city of 20 million in a country of 1.3 billion. First day of touring included Tian'anmen Square (the 1989 protests and killings are largely unknown here), The Temple of Heaven, and The Forbidden City which is really the Imperial Palace of the Mongol rulers for over five centuries. This fact grabbed my interest. Northern Mongol tribes ruled China for centuries. They also set up the Ottoman Empire that was centered in Turkey and ruled the Middle East and large sections of North Africa. And they ruled a large section of India from 1526 to 1761 (I just finished a book on this topic). They are all direct descendants of Genghis Khan so basically a group of fierce fighters riding ponies eventually took over most of the known world and held on to it for centuries!
The Chinese Government blocks much of the information available on the internet including Facebook. Not sure how they can accomplish this but the why is certainly easy to figure out. Thought I would post these notes to Necessity's SailBlog and see if it links up to FB.
