Back to Licata

Big winds kept us in Marina di Ragusa an extra day. The town was very quiet. We did some shopping and sat in a café to access the internet. The fees for WiFi at the marina were extraordinarily high. And then waited for the sun to cross over the yard arm. Being a very cloudy day we decided it was close enough. The wine we prefer is the Nero d’Avalo rossa and Jim seems to like the Moretti beira brand. He has also been known to smile after the brands as well! (Castella, Peroni, Nastro Azzuro, Birra Messina, Dreher…..)
The weather forecast for the next day call for SE winds at Force 3. I was concerned for a running sea from the previous day’s high winds however things had settled down nicely. So after running aground in the channel we were off to Licata under motor and full sail making an easy 5 knots.
Jim expertly docked the boat at our usual berth in Marina di Cala del Sole. All in all we have come to consider Licata our home. The gritty town is not a tourist destination and perhaps there are too many old men sitting outside cafes and men’s clubs. There do smile and invite us in however. There are many advantages at the marina. WiFi service at reasonable rates, WC’s close by (with private shower stalls, MDR has group showering), excellent provisioning at the marina and very good rates. And a fish market. Sea Bream, Sea Bass and a particularly tasty Red Mullet all expertly prepared by Jim.
