BOO!
It only shows to go ya, doesn't it? I looked at the weather this morning and this storm system seems to be wanting to hang on all week! I mean enough already! You have outstayed your welcome and you haven't even got here yet!
And yet another trip to the Boater's Mecca and I have the bibbles and bobs to fix the pressure water system. I got everything I needed, or so I thought until I got back and started to put things together. Turned out I needed one barbed hose mender connector, worth about a dollar, but did I have one of the right size? Nope! Did the local marine hardware store? Nope! So, not willing to make yet another trek out to West Marine I made do with an elbow fitting of the right size and now we have running hot and cold water again.
Huzzah! At 1330 the breakfast and yesterday evening' dishes, look out!
Hold the train! Looks like the huzzah was premature. The ancient hose has gnawed on my butt again as it allowed the elbow fitting to escape its clutches and we had a brief spray session. Brief only because we were right there. We put it back in place and held it there with a cable tie. Hopefully that will do for tonight as tomorrow we will make another trip to WM and the proper fitting bought and I will replace the entire length of the hose. Snarl!
All day some very tired and harassed looking boaters have been finding their way into the marina to wait out the coming storm. One was a Cabo Rico 42 called Cofresi's Child, out of RI. The only other one I have ever seen was named Patti Jean and belongs to friends that we met on our last trip to the Bahamas, Jim and Wendy. If there's an I owner group for them I expect that they might know each other. Everyone is battening down the hatches, doubling the lines and stowing any loose gear in preparation. I think we are in a good place as we are sheltered from all sides if not by huge land mass then at least by trees and large boats; there is no fetch to speak of so we shouldn't see any sea state; and the docks are good and solid. I shall sleep well I'm sure.
On another positive note the tummy issues that I had been having for the last month are no more. Huge huzzah about that! More than a little tired of having my stomach make noises loud enough to send Peri scurrying under the table and to cause passing motorists to swerve and check their instruments for engine problems.
We have suggested to the marina that we might have a storm day pot luck in the lounge on Sunday and clearly they liked it as they not only put up a poster advertising it but are going to attend themselves bringing chicken. The crews of Nelleke and Moonlight Maid will be coming and Barb's contribution will be her mother's Mac and cheese. These sorts of things are always fun and they are a great way to meet new folks and broaden the cruising nuclear family.
