..... Thank heavens! I was a little worried that type of weather might have some negative impact on Kayt's arrival today.
We got down to last minute preps for Kayte's arrival including still more cleaning, a laundry run and some more planning for stuff to do once she arrives. Today is an odd day in that the AM was significantly overcast but quite warm and humid. We are juggling keeping the boat open to keep it aired out with closing off the hatches when it starts to rain. Whew! Then at noon the sun comes out along with the humidity and with the sunshine it also rained a little. Something for all tastes.
Went shopping too and bought our Christmas tree, a teeny Norfolk pine which looks great against the inside steering station which is where it will live during the holidays. The last ones we got are still with us at home in Shelburne I am hoping that this one will join them in the spring.
One thing about being a Canadian is that we have to accept the "sin tax" or the taxes that the government levees against things that they believe no one can argue with them against - alcohol, tobacco, gasoline, etc. the result is a very high cost for all of those things. Here in the US it is not uncommon to find bottles of wine for $4! Granted they are past their best but still, $4! That would barely cover the costs at home. It's nice to be able to afford to buy a bottle of wine a day even on our limited budget.
By 1345 Kayte was in Orlando with bags collected and picking up the rental car. I am thumbing this at 1445 and I think that she is underway and we hope to see her before 1600. It's going to be great to see her and do some of the touristy things around here - Space Centre, Wildlife Parks, maybe Disney World. Great to share things with family. We might even participate in the US Thanksgiving if the marina has their "do" here like the apparently have in the past.
