The first entry to the blog.

We're looking at 9.5 months and counting before we can slip lines and get going without having to plan a "get back before date". We began the dream 6 years ago when we bought NELLEKE and began to rig her up for extended cruising. In that time we have invested multiple "boat bucks" and a whole lot of sweat equity making us as self sufficient as possible. We have added things like a bimini, solar pannels, a wind generator, and a freezer; we have rewired her totally; we have added AIS, a new radar, a new Autohelm and a new breaker pannel, just to name some of the projects.

We have also embarked on a series of shakedown cruises of increasing duration and challenge, all the while watching friends who were ready sooner set off ahead of us.

The initial blog entries will describe some of these earlier adventures and also update the readers on the current list of projects.
