We did not sleep for the two nights the wind was out of the south, causing a constant loud slap on the stern. Tried the v-berth but the swishing was almost as bad. Luckily the south wind is the only one to disrupt the marina, and every boat seems to be affected. We are pretty protected on all other sides. Dad and Sue picked us up for a nice 3 day visit. They cooked us a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings and we slept peacefully in the guest room. Back on Nemo it was time to start chores that had been neglected. Both fridge and freezer were defrosted. Laundry was caught up. Don has his own mile long list. The beach is indeed about a half mile walk and the girls went shelling our first full day here. Walking up the beach was fine, but we struggled back into that south wind, my bag loaded down with sea shells. Don put the bikes together and hope to explore more on those. The river under the little bridge seems more tranquil and we hope to explore there on kayak at some point. Pelicans and cormorants enjoy roosting on the pilings behind the boat and saw a flock of frigate birds gliding over the tiki hut that first day.
