Dressing up
22 March 2009 | Quesir, Egypt
We took a trip today to Quesir the nearest town to the Poth Ghalib marina. The bus ride was 45 minutes up the coast, and we were stunned to see huge resort developments every 3 or 4 miles. Nothing else; just desert and resorts, one after another. What do the people who stay in these places do all day?
Quesir does not, to be honest, have a lot to offer. We were taken to a mosque, a Coptic Christian church, a stuffed animal museum (don't ask!), some touristy retail opportunities, and we had a rather bizarre visit to a 'typical Egyptian family home' where 20 of us sat around in their main room, drank tea and then dressed up in not-very-authentic-looking Egyptian clothes!
We had been promised a trip to a supermarket to stock up after our Red Sea abstinence, but our faces fell when we were led into a tiny shop with almost nothing on the shelves!
We have to get out of Port Ghalib, and soon!
