Beers of the World
17 April 2009 | Aghios Nikolaos, Crete
During our trip, we have been carefully keeping one can of the local beer from each country that we have visited. Even when we were low on supplies in a Sudanese marsa, we kept our collection intact!
This evening, we had our long-planned 'Beers Of The World' beer tasting, with Ian and Viv (Paramour) and Lee and Teri (Glendora). This was a blind tasting and we each chose our top 5 beers and our favourite.
It turned out that there was a surprising variety of tastes, even allowing for the fact that some of the beers that we purchased in 2007 had definitely gone off!
The clear winner, chosen by 5 out of 6 of us, was Cisk beer from Malta, which had certainly kept well since September 2007!
Ian was very pleased with himself for correctly identifying Balboa beer from Panama, and Peter was even happier, as his favourite turned out to be Mythos, which is the Greek beer that we will be drinking while we are in Crete!
