Rivière Salée to the Grand Riviere Goyaves River

03 May 2015
Guadeloupe is a butterfly-shaped island, the two wings separated by the Rivière Salée, which is a natural channel navigable by shallow draft boats. Extensive mangrove swamps cover the banks of the Riviere Salee. At one time sailboats could transit Rivière Salée but not at the time I wrote this article so we decided to do a dingy trip. Three couples in all decided to pack a picnic lunch, Gps systems and off we went on a day of exploring. The trip would take us through the river then across to the Grande Goyaves river. This Starboard buoy in the channel going upstream right now. What do you think? a little difficult if we follow buoy coming back.
