We're Here

30 August 2008 | Cape Town
Hello All,
We are here in our condo in Table View (part of Cape Town). It is on the
third story, very large and luxurious. It is ALL glass on two sides
looking out at the ocean and downtown Cape Town with Table Mountain
behind Cape Town. There is also a huge patio on the two sides past the
glass walls. Two walls of our bedroom are also glass. Such a snazzy
place BUT we are sitting here in the dark using the laptop with candles
because there is no power. We are having a big storm. The sea is roaring
with huge waves. We are assuming that there are power lines down somewhere.

Our trip to Cape Town was basically uneventful. The challenge was
getting our 7 - fifty lb bags along with our 4 carry on bags across from
Yarmouth, NS to Portland, ME. Then getting them to the hotel, then to
the airport and through security and finally onto the plane. We were
fortunate that once they were checked we did not have to bother with
them until we got off the plane in Cape Town. We were very surprised
that we were able to just walk out past the customs people and no one
even looked at a thing.

We rented a car at the airport and had our first taste of driving on the
left side of the road while following the owner of Admiral Yachts to our
condo. It was scary but all went fine. We went to the Admiral factory on
Thursday. We also have been out food shopping and done some looking
around. The TOMTOM GPS is worth its weight in gold. It always has kept
us on the right road (left side) and has been very helpful when we have
to negotiate the roundabouts (traffic circles).

The boat looks great, still much to do. There are never less than 4
people on the boat doing something, sometimes more. We are free to walk
the factory, be all over our boat and watch the progress. They tell us
the boat will be ready by the end of September. They also have a drive
to acheive that date since the Cape Town boat show is the firat weekend
in October. So we shall see.

We have wireless internet access in the factory so we plan to do most of
our internet stuff from there. Remember it is 7.30pm here, 2.30pm in
Nova Scotia, 1.30pm in Ontario, and 11.30am in Colorado. So if we call
you from the factory it must be before closing time and that means that
it will be early for some and very early for others.

We were exhausted from the traveling and are enjoying just chillin out
this weekend. We have chosen the counter tops (black with speckle) and
have appointments next week for the fabrics, canvas, sails, and logo
graphics. We expect that by the following week we may have some time to
start traveling. Hopefully we will be able to get to the web page as
well. We also will get some photos.

Until our next update(maybe we will have power by then)

Everyone take care.
