We've got sunshine!

31 July 2009 | Maine
warm/sunny
We are in an anchorage called Valley Cove, Mount Desert Island in Somes Sound. We have done a short hike in the Acadia National Park and are taking in all the sunshine while we have it. It is very beautiful here. The picture is of "Neverbored" at anchor in Valley Cove. Some of the paths to the park are accessible from Valley Cove . A little info on the sound:Somes Sound is a body of water running deep into Mount Desert Island, the main site of Acadia National Park in Maine. Its deepest point is approximately 175 feet (50 m), and it is over 100 feet (30 m) deep in several places. We are anchored in fifty feet. The sound almost splits the island in two. While often described as a fjord, it lacks the extreme vertical relief and anoxic sediments associated with Norwegian fjords, and is perhaps better described as a fjard " a smaller drowned glacial embayment.
Cheers for now , we are off hiking.
