Salt Cay to Great Sand Cay

We tried to anchor off Salt Cay but the anchorage on the eastern shore was poor so it ended up being our lunch stop. Penny had just finished making pizza and me brownies, solunch was served. In the guide books it said that the anchorage had poor holding .Salt Cay is a small remote island in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Located just south of the island of Grand Turk, it is close to the Silver Bank Marine Sanctuary off the northern coast of the Dominican Republic on the humpback whales winter migratory route. The island sits on the edge of the 7000 foot Columbus Passage which lends itself to spectacular diving. We did get to see a few whales but only from a distance. (Continued...)
