50 miles today
We set the alarm to get up at dawn. We weighed anchor at 7:15 to begin the track 'home' to Kalamata. 50 miles at 5 knots is at minimum 10 hours.
We had to cross the shipping channel which is always a great delight as a sail boat when these big ships travel at 30 knots or more. We must have hit the rush hour on the crossing because there were at least seven big ships on the way as we were passing. The way to know if you will be passing in front of the ship is to look through the binoculars and note the degrees say-260. If the numbers are getting smaller as you watch the ship then you will pass in front. If the numbers stay the same you are on a collision course.
We crossed without problems and took some great close up pictures of these amazing vessels.
The other sights of interest was the lighthouse on Cape Tainaron and of course the dolphons came out to play again. We dropped anchored at a beach near Koroni at 5:30.
