Neverland Journey

Adventures since 2011

Sunday Drive

We sailed, yes, we actually sailed for a few hours over to the famous island of Ithaca. The island home of Homer's Odysseus. The crazy thing is, as the people here say, there has been so much destruction over the centuries, through wars, earthquakes, occupation of other cultures, there is little evidence of the islands history through the centuries. Ithaca is a lovely island which has a population of 6000 permanent residents but during the summer months, as all the other islands, the population explodes with tourists, holiday workers, and other travelers.
We rented a car for Sunday and took the drive throughout the island. There were more switchbacks than I have seen in a long time. Thank goodness there were guardrails on most of the roads and that Mike was the one driving! My fear of heights got a good work out. We had a good very hot and interesting day. More pictures of the day are posted on Monica's facebook page.
