Beware o' dem mossies!
09 July 2014 | Krabi River
Went ashore for a good leg stretch walk & coffee at the lovely ‘Green Cafe’. Being the low season, there are few places open & not many tourists around.
Decided that our best option is to go to Krabi Boat Lagoon marina. fit the prodder, hire car & drive to Ao Chalong to collect mail & clear out, rather than sail back in the “wrong” wind. When all is done, we can just head out from here for Langkawi. Sounds like a good plan????? Remember Murphy!!!!
Up anchor at 1220 hrs & set sail for an overnight anchorage at Koh Dam Khwan (Chicken Islands). A lovely sail, under jib & main, hitting 7.6 knots. Perfect! The chosen anchorage was too rolly, due to the strong SW winds, so we continued on to the Krabi River, intending to anchor there overnight & enter the marina the next morning. This saved us an uncomfortable, rolly night & an early start to make the marina for the correct tide to enter. Much better plan, Skipper!
This area is a reputed dengue fever spot, so we had all screens on & a coil burning at the cockpit door to discourage any mossies.
