Murphy is back!
10 July 2014 | Krabi Boat Lagoon
An early & easy short trip into our marina berth.
First job, to fit the prodder. This required the loosening of the backstays ,undoing of the forestay & securing it with ropes. So far, all good. Slip the prodder over & then start to put all back together. I heard an expletive, investigated & was told that the prodder doesn’t fit. Too small. Needs to be 8mm wider. Can’t stretch 6mm stainless steel ourselves. Phoned Tony who had a few suggestions. Nick took it to the small machine shop at the marina but they couldn’t help but told Nick of a shop in Krabi town that could do it. So, hire car, drive ¾ hour to Krabi, find Simon, leave prodder there to be collected tomorrow.
That’s OK as we plan to have the car tomorrow to check out in Ao Chalong. Right?
Back home, dropped the main sail to repair a small seam. Sail up again without too much trouble. The wind held off long enough for us.
Then I started on a long over -due job of clearing drain from anchor well. This drain runs through the boat, under the water tank & drains in to the forward bilge. It needs to be clear at all times. Needless to say, it was a strenuous & dirty job, that had me climbing down the deep hole & up again many times. Lots of mud & barnacle shells from the anchor chain had caused blockages. We needed to use the plumber’s snake to finish the job, but all done & good. I have ambitions to do the lazarette too but not sure now.
