Eating, drinking and problem solving

This post will cover five days - all at anchor in Langkawi.
Decided to stay another night in marina. Water plentiful so did all the washing. Kerry & Lynette 'Fayaway' are here. Drinks with them & Kerry convinced us that we should haul out at Satun yard. Contacted them but the timing is not right so we may have re-jigged our plans a little.
Astrid & Phil 'Sophia' a lovely young couple with a sail design business here, have taken refuge in the marina & are opposite us on the dock. They visited with home-made pumpkin pie & cream for supper! Astrid made a sun dress for me from a piece of batik a while ago.
Departed marina & re-anchored in Bass Bay. Boats gradually returning here as it is getting close to time for the exodus back to Thailand. We were both still waiting to hear from the dentist for next appointment to finish crown etc so called only to find that they had our number incorrectly entered. Nick had his crown finished for a total cost of A$220 & my veneers are more expensive but still waiting.
Lots of time taken up as Nick tries to solve the AIS dilemma. The Thai Government has decreed that all foreign yachts must be equipped with an AIS transmitter & receiver. Like most boats, we have receiver only & it would cost us nearly A$3000 to upgrade what we have. Welcome to AliBaba China!!! Nick has found something that just may keep us out of a Thai prison & has ordered it for less than A$300!
Hired a car & visited K & K & Phil at Telaga. We collected our new fresh water strainer that Ken brought back from Aus for us. He was bringing back a few other nautical bits & pieces for himself & others but had 8 items removed from his baggage at Coolangatta airport, just before he boarded. Included in this was the treatment for our prop. Nick has made a few very early morning phone calls, the goods have been located & we have asked Peta to collect them. Hopefully, FedX will deliver for us.
We also visited the Mahsuri Mausoleum, a historical village built around the grave of Mahsuri. She was wrongly accused of adultery and sentenced to be 'pierced' to death. A gory story! The village houses some fascinating examples of the ingenuity and craft skills of the Asians.
Shopped at Pok Bros & bought 1Kg of Australian lamb chops for A$11. Big feast last night!
'Southern Wing' & 'Masquerade' are here now too & many others that we have met in last few months. Beginning to feel that we belong here.
