Another lesson: Remember the doggy bag!
06 January 2015 | Ban Thap Lamu
No wind but had to return today so no option but to motor for almost 6 hours to return to Ban Thap Lamu. Saw lots of flying fish & a huge sea snake that thankfully stayed in the water.
Came ashore with 5 jerry cans hoping to get 100 litres of diesel. After much confusion and uncertainty, Aree, (of car hire fame) came in his motor bike & side car & whisked Nick & the cans off to the "Pump Station" where diesel was less than A$1 a litre. The pump station was over 5Km away and on returning to the jetty Nick tried to pay Aree B200. But he would not accept it. Finally accepted B100 - a little over AUD3. Just one more example of the way these people love to help out. Aree's assistance in many ways will long be remembered.
Dinner ashore again at the Navy Wives. I ordered a mango shrimp salad that looked so pretty on the plate. One mouthful & I had flames leaping out my ears. Had it put in a doggy bag to bring home for Nick the next day. I settled on a stir fried veges with shrimp which was much more suited to my delicate palate!!! Back on board & realised that we had left the doggy bag behind!!!
