In the car & on the way to Ao Chalong by 0715. Expecting about a 2 ½ hour drive. The ‘hire car’ was a ute belonging to one of the fishermen. Needed to be back by 9pm so he could go home. Did lots of chores; Chandlery at Boat Lagoon, dropped off some mending, saw Ket to have a new stud put on the water catcher, checked out, (met up with Jean & Jim there doing the same), to PCYC for shower & shampoo then lunch. Next to laundromat then Makro to buy out their nut supply, Villa for fruit, collected mended sail from Ket & then collected the mending. Doing well as it was just 3pm & we headed home. Stopped at Makro at Thalang for apples & tomatoes & a coffee. Jean & Jim walked in & joined us for coffee & long chat. Left there about 4pm with a huge storm looming. We were almost at Sarasin Bridge, more than half way back when we remembered !!!! that we had forgotten!!!! to collect the laundry. Quick U-turn & headed back. Now a race against time, Phuket peak hour traffic & a storm.
Made it with 20 minutes to spare after I expressed some serious doubts about the possibility & also the road we travelled. Finally remembered that we could google our trip to confirm. Everything looked different in the storm & at night. The fisherboys were wonderful & helped us load ‘Bob’ & then assisted both of us down the rope & tyres. They call us Mumma & Poppa!
