Selkie - Pacific Crossing 2010
Swiftsure Yacht Race Preparations
Fa
Wed May 12 15:11:19 EDT 2010, Olympia, WA USA

Selkie is now officially registered for the Swiftsure race over Memorial Day weekend, http://www.swiftsure.org/participants/2010-participants/?regid=2025. You'll notice that our rating is a bit embarrassing at 174 (no spinnaker) - now you know why we usually crew on friends' boats. Should be a lovely race from the Victoria Harbour to Neah Bay and back.

Final Month of Preparations
Fa
Thu May 6 2:41:44 EDT 2010, Olympia, WA USA

Gary has been very busy the last few months getting Selkie ready for the trip (and the Swiftsure). The biggest jobs have been installing the Hydrovane and dealing with all of the electronics (radar, GPS, chartplotter, all of the transducers and instruments, etc). At the moment he is installing a new traveller and now that it is back in the water (after a successful haulout and paint), Gary will be taking her up to Pt. Townsend Rigging to have the final rigging work done and new life lines installed.

The good news is that the list is getting shorter. The bad news is that we only have a month to go. Keep your fingers crossed for a productive May, good weather in June and a settled North Pacific High.

Countdown to Pacific Crossing
Fa/ Raining 11C
Sat Apr 3 22:54:54 EDT 2010, Dunedin, New Zealand

We are doing the final packing in preparation for Gary's one-way flight back to the US. Trip progress is going well, but we'll feel better when the Hydrovane and Garmin chartplotter ship.
