Just a quick note.
Nothing much has happened here in the last month. We did have Halloween with the kids and it was great. We had a pumpkin carving evening and I learned how to carve something other than a scary face. Sienna helped by picking up all the seeds so Lauren could bake them - yum.
We head for Florida on Sunday, November 8th, arrive in Fort Pierce on Monday the 9th and start work on Night Hawk.
Looking forward to meeting old friends and meeting new ones along the way.
I will try to keep the blog going as we head down for our third winter. Who would have thought???

We took Sienna to the Chilliwack Air Show and had a great time with her. It was quite an impressive air show for a small airport and it was FREE.
We have been visiting and touring parts of BC. Since I have been bad at keeping up the blog I can't really remember dates, so I will just hit the highlights.
We had a great weekend with my friends Pam and Rien. Barry got invited on a 40'+ wooden sailboat for a test drive of its new motor, then we went to Granville Market where there was a wooden boat festival. The great thing about this is Rien is a Tug Boat Captain with a high mariners ticket, so he knows many people with great boats. At the boat festival we were able to go on multi-million dollar boats that the rest of the public could not board because Rien knows them all. We had a great time that day.
Barry's sister Cathy and her husband Barrie came to BC to visit. They stayed with Barry's other sister Leslie in Steveston, but we went there to see them and they came out to our place to stay for a visit. We have not seen them since we left Nova Scotia, so it was nice to see them and catch up.
After their visit we went back in to Leslies and went to and eleven course dinner with Fred and Leslie on Friday night - wow - it was great - mostly Asian food. I ate tripe without knowing it - and it was horrible - yuck!!
The next day we went to a shower for Austin (our new grandson) and enjoyed meeting many of Lauren's relatives.
We went camping with Paul, Lauren, Sienna and Austin in the Kane Valley Region. We had a good weekend and the guys caught lots of fish. But this was the turning point of our camping - we decided that we are too old for a tent and decided to buy a tent trailer. We had to go small as our Honda CRV is not rated for a lot of weight.
We went this week (Sept 28-Oct 1) to Prince George to buy the trailer we wanted. We camped on the way back - it was cold in the nights as we were in the mountains. We were at a very nice lodge and snuggled into bed for the evening with the furnace going and woke up to find it has SNOWED during the night - about 5 inches. That was the end of our camping for this year - thank goodness we had a furnace.
During one of our daily fishing excursions, we were entertained by REAL cowboys herding up their cattle - it was quite a treat to watch this.
We have just been having a great time exploring and living in BC.

Wednesday, Aug 12, Marlies took the Grey Hound Bus to Kelowna to meet with her parents and fly home to Ottawa on Friday with them for a wedding.
Steve stayed with us to visit for a few more days.
Thursday the "boys", Steve, Paul and Barry went to the interior close to Merrit for a fishing day. Being men they have no pictures, just fish stories. Steve caught a 21" trout which he brought home to fry up. We now have three float tubes so they all had a good time floating around the lake (actually I think they went to three lakes).
Friday we went to Stanley Park and the Aquarium with Steve. It was a great day - the Aquarium is awesome. We went to the new 4D IMAX production. It was really cool. We had water spritzed at us(when a dolphin etc. jumped in the water), a vibrating cord at our ankles (when they showed crabs crawling etc.) The chair would vibrate when there was a lot of action like waves crashing, we were poked in the back when a snake jumped at us, and they periodically set off bubbles. It was quite an experience - hard to describe.
Saturday we took Steve up to Chilliwack Lake. We took our boat and motor and launched it at the Provincial Park. We headed up the lake and got about 3/4 of the way when the wind came up. It started to get very choppy so we decided it would be best not to continue, so we circled the bottom part of the lake. It was over cast and a bit cold. We came home and Lauren's sister and boyfriend were visiting so Steve went upstairs with the young people to hang out.
Sunday morning 5:00am we are up and heading to the airport by 5:30am. Steve had an early flight, but with the time change he will not get into Ottawa until 4:00pm their time. Of course the weather cleared up and it is sunny and warm once again.
We enjoyed having Steve and Marlies for a visit and it gave them a chance to see their niece, new nephew and of course Paul and Lauren. Nice to have the whole family together.
