Hot Hot Chilliwack
07/31/2009

It has been very hot this past week here in Chilliwack 33-39 degrees - Whew!
We decided to take our boat up to Chilliwack Lake to cool off. It was still very hot up there, but on the water is was very nice.
We toured the lake and fished a little. We would stop at the streams that were the runoff from the mountain snow - that really cooled us down. We stayed for about five hours and had a great time.
We will start to travel further afield now that the new baby and family are settled in.
Our oldest son Stephen and his girlfriend Marlies will be here next weekend and we will see what adventures we can get up to.
Staying home today as our new sofa is being delivered and friends are coming over for dinner - I think we will have ribs and fresh Chilliwack corn - yumm! Unless its too hot, then we will go out to dinner - decisions, decisions.
A nice thing about living here in Chilliwack is that lakes, mountains, trails, parks etc. are all just a short drive (15-30 minutes). We have golf courses anywhere from five to fifteen minutes away. There is always something to do. Loving it!!!

Chillin' as Nanny and Grandad
07/27/2009, Chilliwack

We have been full time grandparents awaiting the birth of our second grandchild. He finally arrived a week late, but a healthy 8lb. 14oz. Mom had a hard delivery and surgery with blood transfusions, but is absolutely great now.
We were sticking close until Austin was born, now we are sticking close to help out while Paul is on night shift for two weeks. Everything seems to be settling in now, so we should be able to start traveling and sightseeing again.

Our oldest son, Stephen and Marlies are coming to visit August 8 or 9 after they do the West Coast Trail which will take them from five to ten days depending on weather etc.

That is all for boring old Nanny and Granddad for now.

Our flights are booked to return to Florida for November 8th. Yippeee!!

Back in BC
06/03/2009, Chilliwack, BC Canada

We arrived back in British Columbia in late April. We cut our cruising short this year as we were in Cuba and it worked out that we ended up back in the US mid April and we didn't want to stay in Florida when we could be home.
All is well in BC and we have been doing a lot to settle into our new home. This is the first year that we have actually lived in our own space here (last year we shared with our son Paul).
We have unpacked everything that we shipped across Canada and wonder what we were thinking (as we got rid of a lot of it). I guess it was really hard to let go when we were packing, but after not seeing it for three years it was much easier to part with. (It would have been a lot cheaper to part with it in NS - oh well).
We have been visiting friends and relatives, but have not ventured anywhere yet. We will go camping on Vancouver Island this year and will probably go to the interior again and go to some vineyards. Paul and Lauren are expecting another child any week now so we want to stay close for now.
We are enjoying our granddaughter so much and it is great to be so near.
Our son Stephen will come to visit in August after he and his girl friend Marlies do the West Coat Trail on Vancouver Island.
That is about it for now - we will rest from our last adventures so we can start some new ones.
