Sailing with Nine of Cups
Beautiful day

06 November 2009 | En route to New Zealand
We have really been blessed with beautiful weather the last few days. Though the oil leak is foremost in our minds at the moment, the fine weather makes it much easier to handle. With the light air, we've been risking taking the reefs out of the main during the days and today noticed a section that needed restitching. I could have sworn that there was not an inch of that sail that had escaped my sewing machine in Suwarrow, but not so. So we stitched it up by hand today. In order to gain access to the area needing stitching, we had to take the bimini down and decided to leave it down until we reached Opua as we had better visibility of the sail. However, with it down, the dirty stainless of the bimini frame was so awful looking that I finally had to polish it all up this afternoon as it was driving me nuts.

I've been baking up a storm knowing that my flour, dried fruits, nuts, etc. will be confiscated when we get to Opua. Don't want anything left if I can help it. Honey Carrot Date muffins today...you get innovative when you look at what's left in the larder.
