Sailing with Nine of Cups
Monday, mundi
Marcie
14 November 2011 | Bundaberg, Australia
A fairly quiet day today. No social activities scheduled, although since David was working on deck, several people stopped by to chat and check his progress. While David worked on the deck, Marcie began ordering parts to be consolidated by our friends, the Grimms, who will be visiting us for the holidays in Sydney. Luckily, they're good sports and don't mind toting lots of extra weight to bring boat parts to us half way around the world.

Another American/Australian misunderstanding today. David was asking someone about fishing rules and regulations. What David heard: "If you're fishing Monday, you gotta throw them back. What Tom said: "If you're fishing mundi, you gotta throw them back.

David: If you're fishing Monday, you've gotta throw back what you caught. Tom: Yup David: That's a strange rule. Why do you have to do that? Tom: Ever since the flood, there haven't been as many of them. David: Mondays??? Tom: Yup

Translation of what Tom said: If you're fishing for barramundi (a type of local fish), you have to catch and release.

This gets curiouser and curiouser.
