Sailing with Nine of Cups
Spaced Out
20 April 2012 | Us: Las Vegas Cups: Tasmania
After living on the boat, dealing with so much extra space is sometimes a bit mind-boggling. Don't get me wrong, we love having a bit more space, but we're conditioned to having every bit of space be useful. On "Cups" everything is so compact. Every space is used...under stairs in the ladder, in the bilge, under floorboards. We even have a wine cellar under our aft bunk (holds 6 cases of wine!). Having extra closet space and room to expand is clearly a luxury. There's even furniture that moves here...desks, bureaus, chairs, sofas. It's not built in place; it can be rearranged to suit your mood. It hasn't taken us any time at all to cover every flat surface with "stuff". And since the house itself doesn't move or get tossed by waves, we don't have to worry about lashing everything down and putting it away as soon as it's been used.

However, where else but on a boat can you clear the dinner table, rinse and put dishes in the sink and never get up from the settee.
