I read sail blogs because I like to read as many blogs as I can as I sit in the evening. I plus other cruisers I know use the blog spot site. Its free, allows you to post as many pics as you want and its very user friendly. I cant find myself around a computer very easy but this site is easy. blogspot.com
The End of the Sailing Season Spring 2010
06/28/2010, Florida

Well it's time to update the blog. Have a bit of spare time now. Since coming back to the Port St. Lucie Area....one of our favorites...we did not have much time to put the boat away for the season. Since we were not newbie's this time and yes the "good old check list" was created and things went really smooth. We had to rescue the car, give it a wash and learn to drive all over again. Chris and his cousin Gregg brought the boat up the St. Lucie River. It's about a 40 mile cruise. It would take about 6 - 6 1/2 hours. The weather was just perfect. We had booked a space in the marina and had a confirmed haul out date. There was lots to do. Salt everywhere. Sails to be washed and dried, the deck washed and scrubbed. Prepare the boat to be closed up for about 6 months. We had the boat moved to a different area this year. We had a "ant colony" decide last year that our bilge was the best place to hide out, not so this year. Every oriface in the boat has be filled and stuffed and the traps are set. Time to Go!

It is always hard to put "No Keys" away as she is our home for 5 months of the year. We are already planning on our Adventures for the Fall! We want to say "Thanks for the FUN, SUN, New Friends, Olds Friends, Girl Friends, Best Friends and Family for their Help in "Leaving It All Behind". So the plan is there to continue........

The Beach
03/17/2010, Jensen Beach

March 14/10

Its Sunday and spring break is happening here in Florida. Albeit it has been one of the coldest winters on record. We stopped at the beach on our way to Chris's Aunts Home. This is the first time that the sun came out. As you can see, the beach is packed. We drove past many of the public beaches and the parking lots were full.

Our Current Home
03/17/2010, Stuart, Florida

Here is our anchorage....The Sunset Bay Marina and Anchorage. We called ahead thank goodness as this mooring field was FULL. Luckily, there was 1 mooring ball left. Lucky #7. We arrived in a huge downpour and I lost the boat hook, again. We don't have much luck with them. This marina is within walking distance to historic Stuart. The marina is FULL as well.

Most people here at the marina have not left at all. The weather in Florida this winter has been cold, windy and rainy. Nobody wants to go anywhere.

A Sad Sight
03/17/2010, ICW heading North

March 12/10

Well it is time to head north, it's cold and raining. We have 7 bridges to go before we make it to Stuart. At times you could not see the bow of the boat. A good thing though is with all the rain, it washed all the salt off the boat and out of the sails.

There still is a recession going on here in Florida. As we were heading north, this is what we seen. A beautiful boat and home, neglected with For Sale Signs and nobody cares.
